Services

We provide a variety of post production services such as stereo-mastering, stem-mastering, enhancement of live backings, sample banks, de-noising and audio-restoration.

Together with Mo Stern we created an acoustic environment that is particularly suitable for mastering.

We use Geithain R900, RFT BR 50 and MO STERN monitor speakers. For the dynamic treatments in the mastering process there are high-end machines by EMT, RFT, NEUMANN and STUDER.

Our masters can be recorded in high resolution up to DSD 5,6 Mhz .

In case you are coming to us with a production that was made mainly on the computer we offer a variety of analog processes using our NEUMANN, STUDER and RFZ summing options or even the tape machine.

We record bands, movie scores, speakers, jingles, audio books, choirs and sound for art installations.

The brilliant acoustics of the room help us to produce very good microphone signals.

We can choose between a variety of microphones by brands like MICROTECH GEFELL, RFT, OCTAVA, LOMBARDI, NEUMANN, SENNHEISER, REISSMANN... and this selection is constantly growing.

There are tube-, condenser- and ribbon microphones.

We use different preamps depending on the signal. There are STUDER, RFZ, AUDIO DEVELOPMENTS, RTW and SPL preamps.

Our setup can handle up to 32 tracks digitally and 16 tracks on tape using FERROFISH AD converters and a FOSTEX tape machine.

You will find a 70’s drum-set and amps by GUYATONE, FENDER and DYNACORD both tube and transistor driven.

We have a variety of synthesizers and samplers including AKAI MPC 2000xl, OCTATRACK, NOVATION PEAK, YAMAHA, NORD and NEW ENGLAND DIGITAL.

For on-location recordings we use our mobile rig.

When it comes to mixing we have a special approach. First of all we don't believe in mixing with the computer. We like to use a variety of analog outboard gear and processors which have real knobs and faders.

Instead of using one big mixing console we decided to diversify the sound by using several high-end broadcasting consoles side by side. This way we can create individualized processing chains according to the requirements of each signal.

The possibilities are huge when you are able to choose between mixing desks by STUDER, RFZ, NEUMANN, RTW and AUDIO DEVELOPMENTS. We can play with the characteristics of these desks.

This is very important because nowadays people tend to use the same gear over and over again. We try to avoid that in the mixing process.

We have 14 compressors, spiral reverbs by AKG and TELEFUNKEN, tape delays by DYNACORD and WATKINS and many more gates and effects... not to forget the EMT 248 reverb.

The Geithain R 900 speakers are a great help because they can reproduce the bass and are very well defined in the high to mid area.

Mixing at NADEL EINS is a time saver because you can simply hear what you are doing.

In every stage of your mixing process the setup allows you to simultaneously record the stereo signal AND all the single tracks back to the computer. This is a great option in case you want to capture a certain state.

We can also offer a variety of ME Geithain speakers in the event you want to mix multi channel projects (5.1 , 7.1. or different installation).

We can create nearly everything – from beep to score!

As musicians and sound-designers we have always done commissioned work such as sound tracks, hotlines, jingles, sound logos, music for presentations and advertisement.

We have worked for customers including fashion brands, film companies, unions and airports.

For the creation of new sounds we have a variety of technical possibilities including sample-modulation and FM Synthesis (N.E.D. Synclavier II).

As live appearance became existentially important for musicians, we started to recognize a certain need of support in this field.

Our coaching sessions can be done in different ways such as talks or concert analysis.

Studio owner Franz Schuette has been performing on stage for over 20 years and has also been working as live – and studio sound technician.

This has given him not only the necessary experience, but also the overview of the music business from different perspectives - an inside knowledge he can now pass on!

We offer rehearsal sessions at the studio where we take a closer look at various aspects of a live performance.

There are always things to optimize. First on the technical side, then sonics, drama and show.

Together we can discuss and streamline your live-setup, sounds, running-order and even create new ideas for a gig that should be exciting for both - the audience and the artist!

About

The Nadel Eins Studio Berlin was founded in the 90's by the band Jeans Team. This is where they recorded their music and slowly developed their technical skills.

In 2014, after several relocations and setup changes, Franz Schütte decided to turn the place into a high-end music studio with the ambition to create a room that just sounds beautiful.

Inside of this great acoustic environment, he assembled a minimal but versatile technical setup which will satisfy all digital and analog demands. Musicians and technicians will easily adapt and find their way around.

Besides the classical disciplines such as RECORDING, MIXING and MASTERING you can realize all kinds of audio related work here.

We offer 5.1 and 7.1 multi-channel mixing for film, audio restoration, multi-channel mixing for art installations, sound design, live preparation, consulting and more.

Most of our technicians started out as musicians themselves and are now happy to hear your ideas and offer solutions.
